This listing is for a POPEYE JACK IN THE BOX made by Mattel in 1957. One of the most desirable of the Mattel music boxes, it is made of tin with the addition of a tin spinach can inside the box which holds Popeye! Great graphics all around, including a comic strip in rear. The music box is in excellent+ overall, it may not have been played with. There are a few light scratches and a shallow ding in the rear edge.

Still glossy and complete with Popeye's pipe. The music mechanism and latch still work great, playing Popeye's theme and opening the lid at the end of the song. Comes with the rare original box. The box is a bit rough with a few tears and some light staining toward the bottom, mostly on one panel.

The flaps have been reinforced from the inside. Rare in this condition, one of the nicest I've handled.
